Allison Bryan of Open Studio Collective recently invited me as a speaker to her Physical Education Series. A series of conversations exploring the intersection of design, community, and mind body resilience. We’ll be chatting this evening.
This invitation helped spur a creative idea I’ve had floating around but had not yet prioritized. I made a short zine of one of my writings (Legs Get me Home) to hand out to every person who attends (joins) the conversation. I also made this audio recording of the piece and linked a QR code in the zine to listen to here. I wanted to have a gift for each person to walk away with, to take home, and to continue the conversation.
I am grateful for the chance to connect with my community in this way. Deep and raw conversation has been a lifeline in my own journey. Thank you to all vulnerable and brave enough to share words together.
I wrote this piece in 2021 and have left it as originally written. It is about the heart of movement, discovering worth, love and loss. It is a part of a journey that my legs, my heart, and my perception have been on since losing my husband.
Thank you to all who listen.
And, you can read the piece here: Legs Get Me Home.
